The Association of Women Surgeons is an organization committed to supporting the professional and personal needs of female surgeons from residency through retirement. AWS members serve on every standing committee of the American College of Surgeons, and have participated in NIH panels on the Status of Women in Scientific careers. AWS has set up many programs with the specific objective of promoting the professional growth and advancement of female surgeons.
AWS Pocket Mentor
The AWS Pocket Mentor is a manual for surgical interns and residents. It is based upon the experiences of a number of women surgeons, and is intended to make your passage a bit easier than it was for many of them. This book provides a background of practical information that should make your residency less confusing, and thereby more rewarding.
